Chopard revision and repair | Costs and maintenance
Chopard revision: costs, procedure, and warranty
Is your Chopard no longer keeping accurate time, has the power reserve shortened, or are you unsure of when the watch was last serviced? Then it is advisable to have the movement checked.
After receipt and technical inspection, we will assess what work is needed. You will first receive a clear estimate. Only after your approval will we start the revision or repair.
During a complete Chopard revision, the mechanical movement is disassembled, cleaned, checked, lubricated, and readjusted. We also check the overall functioning of the watch and, where applicable, the gaskets and water resistance.
Do you want to know what your Chopard needs? Send us the model number, a description of the issue, and some clear photos. Based on that, we can provide a preliminary assessment and price indication.
Chopard revision, repair, or maintenance?
Revision, repair, and maintenance are often used interchangeably, but they do not mean the same thing. The type of treatment needed depends on the type of watch and the technical condition of the timepiece.
| Service | When is it needed? | Tasks |
|---|---|---|
| Revision | In case of wear, multiple complaints, or extensive maintenance | Dismantling the mechanical movement completely, cleaning, checking, lubricating, reassembling, and regulating |
| Repair | In case of a clear defect | Investigating the problem and repairing or replacing the faulty part |
| Maintenance/service | For inspection and preventive maintenance | Checking functioning, accuracy, power reserve where applicable, and overall condition |
In a Chopard repair, this could involve a poorly functioning crown, varying accuracy, a problem with the date, or a faulty component in the movement.
Not every complaint means a complete revision is necessary. After the technical inspection, we will determine which tasks are appropriate.
.
What does a Chopard revision cost?
The costs of a Chopard service depend on the model, the caliber used, the technical condition of the watch, and any parts that need to be replaced.
For example, a simple mechanical movement requires a different treatment than a chronograph with multiple functions. Additionally, the work on Chopard watches with special complications or older movements may vary.
After receipt and technical inspection, you will receive a final price quote. We will only start the work after you have agreed to this.
Would you like an initial estimate beforehand? Please send the model number and a few clear photos of the watch.
What is included in a Chopard service?
The independent specialist for Chopard services and repairs
In a full Chopard service, we carefully treat and inspect the mechanical movement. Depending on the model and the necessary work, the revision may consist of:
- complete disassembly of the movement;
- professional cleaning of the parts;
- check for wear and damage;
- replace or repair parts as needed;
- lubricate the movement;
- reassemble the movement;
- adjust the accuracy;
- check the power reserve;
- check the crown and operation;
- check the date and other functions;
- check the seals where applicable;
- water resistance test where technically possible and applicable;
- extensive final inspection.
When parts need to be replaced, we will discuss this with you in advance. For older models, the availability of parts may affect the price and turnaround time.
For Chopard watches with special finishes or moving diamonds, we also carefully examine which additional checks are needed.
Which Chopard issues do we repair?
A Chopard may malfunction for various reasons. We investigate the following complaints among others:
- the watch runs too fast or too slow;
- the watch has stopped;
- the power reserve has decreased;
- the watch winds difficultly;
- the crown does not function properly;
- the date does not switch correctly;
- the chronograph does not work correctly;
- the movement produces an unusual sound;
- there is moisture or condensation under the glass;
- the watch has experienced a fall or hard impact;
- a part in the movement is worn out or defective;
- the battery of a quartz model needs to be checked;
- the case, strap, or clasp is damaged.
If there is moisture or condensation in the watch, it is advisable to have the watch checked as soon as possible. Moisture can damage components of the movement.
When does a Chopard need maintenance?
There is not one fixed maintenance moment that is the same for every Chopard watch. The model, the movement, the age, the use, and previous maintenance all play a role.
Have your Chopard checked when you notice that:
- the watch is clearly running too fast or too slow;
- the power reserve is diminished;
- the watch regularly stops;
- the winding is rough;
- the crown is not functioning properly;
- there are problems with the date or chronograph;
- moisture or condensation is visible;
- the watch has received a hard bump;
- it is not known when the last maintenance was performed.
Even when the watch still seems to function normally, lubricants in a mechanical movement can age over time.
For Chopard models with a quartz movement, the battery, seals, and electronic functionality can be checked, among other things.
This is how a Chopard revision works
1. Application with model and photos
You send us the model number, a description of the problem, and some clear photos of the watch. If known, you can also indicate when the watch was last serviced.
2. Initial assessment and price indication
Based on the information, we will review what work is likely needed. We can then provide an initial indication.
3. Receipt and technical inspection
Upon receipt, the watch is technically inspected. We assess the functionality of the movement, the accuracy, power reserve where applicable, and any damages.
4. Final price quote
After the inspection, you will receive a clear price quote detailing the work we recommend. We will begin only after your approval.
5. Disassembly and cleaning
When a complete mechanical revision is necessary, the movement is removed from the case and disassembled. The components are cleaned individually to remove dirt and old lubricants.
6. Inspection and repair
The components are checked for wear and damage. Parts that no longer function properly are repaired or replaced where possible.
7. Lubrication, assembly, and regulation
The mechanical movement is lubricated and assembled again. It is then carefully adjusted to achieve good and stable operation.
8. Final inspection
After the work, we check among other things the accuracy, power reserve, and overall functionality of the watch. Where applicable, the seals and water resistance are also checked.
9. Return
When all checks are complete, the watch can be returned or picked up according to arrangement.
Experience with various Chopard models
Over the years, Chopard has released various mechanical movements, chronographs, and watch collections. There are also models with quartz movements. The necessary work can therefore vary by model.
An application may relate to models from collections such as:
- Chopard Alpine Eagle;
- Chopard Mille Miglia;
- Chopard L.U.C;
- Chopard Happy Sport;
- Chopard Happy Diamonds;
- Chopard IMPERIALE;
- older and vintage Chopard watches.
For older and vintage units, we will first check which parts are available and what work is technically feasible.
Please provide as much information as possible with an older Chopard watch, such as the reference number, photos, and the known service history.
Frequently asked questions about Chopard servicing
What does it cost to service a Chopard?
The costs depend on the model, caliber, technical condition, and any parts that need to be replaced. After inspection, you will receive a final price quote.
How long does a Chopard service take?
The duration depends on the work to be done and the availability of any parts. After inspection, we can indicate how much time is expected to be needed.
How often does a Chopard need maintenance?
This varies per watch. Age, type of movement, usage, and previous maintenance all play a role. If the watch runs less accurately, has a shorter power reserve, or shows other issues, a check is advisable.
What is the difference between repair and service?
A repair targets a specific complaint or a defective part. In a complete mechanical service, the entire movement is disassembled, cleaned, checked, lubricated, reassembled, and adjusted.
Can you also service Chopard Mille Miglia watches?
You can submit a Chopard Mille Miglia for assessment. First, we will look at the exact model, caliber, and technical condition. After that, we can indicate which work is possible and necessary.
Can you also repair vintage Chopard watches?
Older Chopard watches can also be submitted for assessment. For vintage models, the availability of parts can play an important role.
Is my Chopard tested for water resistance?
When the model is suitable for it, seals and water resistance can be checked. The possibilities depend on the watch and the condition of the case, crown, and other components.
Will I receive a price quote in advance?
Yes. After a technical inspection, you will first receive a price quote. We only start once you have agreed to the proposed work.
How do I submit my Chopard?
Please contact us in advance for current submission options. When sending, the watch should be well protected and an appropriate insured shipping method is recommended.
